Have you gone wireless with your printer yet?

If not, you should definitely consider it. Convenience and efficiency are two things all Calgary organizations seek. Saving time is saving money and that’s good for the bottom line. If you are still plugging your computer into your printer, it’s time to come out of the dark ages.

Wireless printers have been around for several years now. They are becoming increasingly popular in Calgary businesses and organizations because of the flexibility they offer. Many small offices and home-based businesses are turning to WiFi-enabled printers as a preferred choice. You can print from wherever you are, print from mobile devices and you don’t need to worry about where the cable has gone.

Many printer manufacturers and third party developers now offer apps that also offer mobile printing support, allowing you to print from iOS, Android and other devices as well as supporting print jobs from cloud-based services.

Here are six of our favourites for 2019:

1. Brother MFC-J5330DW wireless printer

Has all the bells and whistles any small business will need, from sending faxes to saving scans to the cloud. WiFi is built in and Brother offers a companion companion iOS/Android app which will make your wireless printing easy. It prints clearly in monochrome and colour photos have a lot of depth on photo paper. Not as fast as a laser printer, with a small touchscreen, but offers good performance along with several features.

2. HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw wireless printer

This multifunction printer is a bit on the large size, but If you have the space, it provides consistency and great print quality, a useful 35-sheet automatic document feeder and automated photocopying skills. Both WiFi and NFC connectivity are built in so mobile printing via the HP app is simple and easy. A mono machine, it’s not the fastest laser available, but is quicker than any inkjet with an appealing blend of features and performance.

3. Canon Pixma TS8050 wireless printer

Canon’s wireless printer has as many features as can possibly fit into this compact printer. There’s no fax feature, but it connects well with with Ethernet, USB and SD card ports, plus Wi-Fi and NFC for speedy wireless printing. It also offers six separate inkjet cartridges for more lifelike photo prints.

4. Brother MFC-L8690CDW wireless printer

Again a bit on the bulky side, this laser printer comes with all the features a small business could ask for. It can hold 300 sheets of paper and print mono or colour at the rate of 31 pages/minute. It includes a fax facility, electronic document feed for automated tasks and wireless printing from a mobile device, or scanning documents to the cloud is a breeze with its built in WiFi and iOS/Android companion app. Both Google Cloud Cloud and AirPrint are included

5. Canon Pixma TR8550 wireless printer

This compact small-in-one is feature-rich with everything from a fax to a 20-sheet automatic document feeder. Exceptionally well connected with both WiFi and Bluetooth included for easy and quick connection to a mobile device and a great companion app. Cloud Printing and scanning are simple, and photos come with a depth of colour.

6. HP LaserJet Pro M15w wireless printer

Most laser printers are much heftier than their inkjet competitors but HP has come up with a device the size of a toaster. It only offers single-side mono page printing but much faster and economically than most inkjet printers. And best of all, it’s small enough to carry around with you (which there’s no need to do!). Connect via WiFi or WiFi direct for wireless printing through AirPrint, or Google Cloud Print with the iOS/Android app by HP.
