How do we get rid of old printers?
Because printer ink cartridges contain toxic substances, you can’t just throw out your old printers. Many cities have legislation against the disposal of electronic waste (e-waste) — your business could face fines for illegally dumping electronics.
So what do you do?
1. Recycle old printers
The fastest and easiest way to dispose of unwanted printers is to recycle them. Best Buy, Target, Staples, Office Depot and similar retailers have designated recycle bins in the store. You can just drop them off and leave. E-waste centres are another option. City or county websites should have locations and hours listed on their websites.
2. Donate unwanted printers
If your printer(s) still is in good working condition, there are many nonprofit organizations, schools, community organizations, etc. that would be happy to receive it.
3. Sell old printers
If your printer(s) is still in good condition, you can turn it into cash — list it on eBay, Craigslist or Kijiji.
