If Your Printer Has Failed, Make These Checks For Troublenshooting!

A printer just like any other device can fail and this may happen when you really need it most. This is not to say that only the old printers fail; even the lately acquired new printers can put your business on halt. If this happens, don't worry because there is always a solution to a problem. You need ask the pros to fix the problem for you because they are fast and know the quick tricks to rescue your business. If you can do it yourself, then the following tips can help you get through and bring everything back to normal fast:

Check 1

Your may fail to print just because you have not checked your power. Make sure that the power is turned on. You can tell this by checking if the power-on light is highlighted. The printer cables should be plugged into the device and check to see no error indicator is lighted.

Check 2

It is important to be sure that the printer in use is the one you are expecting. You can verify this on your Word or other document by clicking on "File" and then "Print". It is here that the "printing panel" is revealed as well as the printer that you are using. If this is not the printer you are expecting to use, then click on the triangle that faces downwards to see the list of printers, and then select the printer that you expect to use.

Check 3

There might be other documents waiting to print; please verify that they are not stopped. This is important because printers stop printing when they encounter a problem. And jobs that are subsequently sent to the printer cannot print until the previous jobs are completely printed. A printer will print one document at a time and this is in the order that the documents are sent to the device. Some of the problems that can stop the printer from printing include paper jams, run out ink or even power issues.

Check 4

Loss of connection between your printer and computer could be the cause of the problem. You can test this by clicking on the "Start" button and then "Devices and Printers". Select the printer you are expecting to use and then click the right mouse button to bring up the "Printer" properties. Click on the "Print Test Page" button to see if the printer will print a test page. If it fails, then the link to your printer is not functioning properly. If it is a network printer, then the printer IP address is not correct. You need to confirm the IP address is the one assigned to your printer.

Check 5

Wireless printer may lose connection to the network too. You can fix the problem by reinstalling the wireless printer on your network. You should note that some printers can be installed without an active USB connection.
